A backed-up toilet is annoying. But when wastewater starts pushing back through downstairs fixtures every time something runs upstairs - that's a main line problem, not a clog you can plunge away.

That's exactly what was happening at this rental property in Puyallup. The main sewer line was blocked, and every time a fixture upstairs was used, the pressure had nowhere to go but back down. Left alone, that kind of backup causes real damage fast. We got out there, ran the drain machine through the toilet flange, and cleared the blockage all the way through to the main line cleanout.

Once the line was flowing clean, we reset the toilet with a fresh wax ring and new hardware, then sanitized the area before packing up. We also accessed the main cleanout outside to confirm the line was fully clear end to end. That extra step matters - especially on a rental where someone else is depending on everything working right.

The finished bathroom looks exactly like it should. Clean, dry, and back in service. No lingering smell, no visible damage, no shortcuts. That's how drain cleaning is supposed to go.

A lot of people wait on something like this because they're not sure if it's serious. If fixtures are backing up, water is sitting, or there's any gurgling when things drain - don't sit on it. Those are signs the main line is under pressure, and it won't fix itself.
